What Is Mercury Retrograde?

Mercury Retrograde can sound like an atomic bomb to someone who has no clue what it means. This has also been a topic that has been recently getting more and more known and spread. For those of you who are not that familiar with Astrology, the study of the stars/planets, in this video we go a little in-depth about this topic, which also is important to know because Mercury Retrograde, is the movement of the planet Mercury from its normal orbit.

In simplest terms, the alignment of the planets affects Earth as well as humans. Just as the moon affects the height of the tides, the movements of the planets can have an effect on our attitudes, moods, emotions, and communication styles.  For example, in Western culture, Astrology is associated with horoscopes that explain aspects of a person’s personality and predict significant events in their lives based on the positions of the stars and planets during the time they were born. So if your “sun” sign, which is the most well known in Astrology, the main and dominate the planet in our Solar System, was in a  “Pisces” or a “Gemini” position when you were born, you would take on some of the characteristics traits of a Pisces or Gemini.

Most people in America know what their “Sign” is, but not much beyond that. To go even deeper, we have a sign for EVERY SINGLE PLANET. And every planet has its own unique secrets and characteristics traits. For example, where the moon was positioned while you were born, is your moon sign, those are the traits that you may portray in romance and romantic relationships and how you express love.

Because Mercury is the planet situated closest to the Sun, its orbit is much shorter than Earth’s. About three or four times a year, Mercury speeds past Earth, and that is when we experience a Mercury retrograde period. So Retrograde is when the planet Mercury, goes out of normal orbit. Rather the other planets moved around it or it withdrew itself, Retrograde is a period of retreat.

Mercury rules all types of communication, including listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, selling, and buying. Mercury also rules all formal contracts and agreements, as well as important documents such as book manuscripts or term papers, agreements, deeds, contracts, leases, wills, and so forth.

Included under this planet’s domain are all types of code, including computer codes, as well as transportation, shipping, and travel. When this planet retrogrades, these areas tend to get scrambled or spin out of control. It was funny because the first day of this last Retrograde some of my friends and business owners were having major malfunctions with their technology and systems as work.

Why does this happen? When a planet retrogrades, astrologically it is in a resting or sleeping state. Therefore, while Mercury naps, the activities that it governs don’t have the benefit of a well-functioning, wide-awake planet to supervise them. Expect a certain degree of pandemonium to ensue! A popular one is having EXes text you during retrograde lol. This is because many old emotions can get stirred up. Just remember don’t live in the past.

This explained it so clearly! I love astronomy and kept trying to explain it to people when it would come up in conversations and couldn’t get my point across without confusion. Thank you!
