You know that point you get to with your skincare routine when it feels like nothing is working? You’ve tried everything on the market, most likely… creams, exfoliating scrubs, serums, anything you can find that may list “salicylic acid” in the impossible-to-pronounce ingredient list. The self-care, beauty industry is slowly but surely moving towards more natural solutions, and my favorite finds are the ones you can make at home with what’s already in your cabinet!
Insert: turmeric + honey. An all-natural mask that nourishes, exfoliates AND gives you a little extra bit of glow. Simple as 1, 2, 3! Simple as debunking the myth that three’s a crowd.
Ingredients:
. 3 tbsp ground turmeric
. 3 tbsp honey
. 3 tbsp water
Directions:
1) Mix all ingredients in a bowl
2) Place in a container with lid
3) REFRIGERATE!!!!!
*it will eventually go bad if you leave it in the refrigerator for too long >>> I advise trying to use it within a month, or less

The use of turmeric dates back nearly 4000 years to historic culture in India, where it was used as a culinary spice and had major religious significance. Due to its unique taste, one-of-a-kind color dying properties, and holistic anti-inflammatory resources, it’s one of those magic essential herbs that you need to have in your daily routine! Whether it’s used in the kitchen, or in the bathtub, it’ll bring life to whatever concoction you’re creating.
You can leave this mask on for up to twenty minutes before washing it off. My best advice is to apply it before a shower, and rinse it off with a washcloth once you get in the water. It DOES have yellow dying properties – so please keep this in mind! It will most likely give your skin a yellow hue (which, I promise, promise, promise, will disappear eventually/come off with scrubbing) and it will definitely stain the washcloth that you use to rinse it off with. If you’re olive-toned like I am, the yellow hue will actually appear as a nice, healthy tan!
I’ve been using this mask for over 4 years now, and it’s the only thing that has saved my skin! I’ve suffered through everything from hormonal, cystic acne to occasional small bumps because I forgot to wash my make-up off the night before. This make-me-believe-in-anything skincare recipe is my little dream come true in a jar. It exfoliates, it smooths and softens, it starts my day off with an embrace of golden warmth – and what better way to start your day than with some sunshine?!
